Welcome to the Official Home Page of Alex's Armory Quake 3 Servers!

Some minor changes to the servers:
Field of view (cg_fov) is no longer fixed at 90. There are so many cheats out there now (10 years!!!) it just doesn't matter anymore. I've also changed some of the maps: The DM2 FFA Server has added Q3DM15 - Demon Keep to the rotation, replacing Q3CTF4. Also, the DM17 server now rotates DM17 three times and then DM7 once. Q3DM9 was getting a little old, so I changed it up for now. Besides, Spanky's server still rotates the old DM17 & DM9 combo.
That's about it for now. Thanks for keeping the servers alive!

Well, sorry if anyone has been trying to find the servers- I forgot my IP address changed so I never updated the site. It's correct now.
I recently ran a 1.32 server with the NoGhost mod. Only a couple people played so for now we're back to all 1.16n servers. I need to put some more time into setting up a 1.32 NoGhost server, so maybe in the near future one will be up again. Anyway, continue to enjoy the 1.16 servers...

Not much going on lately, and the servers have been extremely quiet. That's probably because I'm still running the 1.16n patch so Demo clients can connect. I'm considering running a 1.32 server in the near future, but I have two issues that make me apprehensive: First is Punkbuster. The overhead and general interference it generates is reason enough to be concerned, but I honestly haven't tried it in well over a year. Maybe it's been improved. Second is the 1.32 point release itself. I always felt that after the 1.27 PR the game felt sluggish. That feeling only got worse with each PR. We'll see what happens. I'm still debating it because even though there seem to be far more people playing 1.32, the amount of hax also seem to be in greater numbers. I'll post further details when I decide what to do.

I don't remember the exact date I began hosting Quake 3 servers, but it was somewhere in the neighborhood of the year 2001, and it was probably around this time of year. That means that The Armory servers, in one incarnation or another, are roughly 7 years old.
That's really something, and I'm proud to say that I've managed to keep them running smooth and clean for a good 95% of that time.
Cheaters, trolls, stalkers, DOS attacks... I've endured them all, and I'm still here. I take pride in that.
I also need to thank two very important players who became friends and helped monitor, police and administrate the servers over the years: -V- and Spanky. Thanks gentlemen. I sincerely appreciate your friendship, kind words, help with the server, hours and hours of fragtastic fun playing the game and overall great conversations.

Well, I'm not 100% sure what the heck happened, but I seem to have lost the entries prior to the 23 November, 2007 entry below. Not that it's all that important, but I was hoping to maintain that information. I'll see if I can find it archived anywhere.
I've also fixed what I believe was the issue causing the nearly-weekly loss of my internet connection. We'll see if my theory is correct over the course of the next week or so.
That's about all for now. Thanks to the regulars who keep the game fun, and death to the degenerates that try to ruin it for everyone else!

The Armory is Back! The move is done, and everything is up and running. Things should be back to normal, but if anything is running badly, I'll make sure to clear it up as soon as possible.

!!!NOTICE!!!
The Armory Servers will be down next week, starting on or around 11/27/2007 through at the EARLIEST 12/01/2007.
Why?
Because I'm moving! But don't worry... The Armory will still be powered by the same hardware and kick-a$$ 'Net connection everyone loves. Hopefully the move will go quick and easy, and I'll have the servers back up before anyone misses them too much!
